UIC further reforms the admission policy for students from Guangdong province. They are given the new option to apply for UIC in the early enrolling phase if they obtain first class scores in the National College Entrance Examination. The college also expands the admission range by four provinces to a total of 30. Moreover, it begins to admit students from Hong Kong via the National Education Exams Authority Joint Entrance Exam for Universities in China.
